On 11th March 2011 a half day workshop was held in Uuvudhiya Constituency in Omusati region. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss sub-surface water storage in Iipopo village. The aims were:
• To provide information and discuss site selection for where the sub surface tanks will be constructed.
• To present and explain the function of the sub surface water storage reservoir to the participants.
• To identify the building team to help with the construction process.
• To inform about the time frame of the construction

The CuveWaters project has the main objective of improving people’s living conditions and livelihoods. It is an international research project aimed to introduce alternative water and sanitation technologies and practices into the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin, as part of the process of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). The project is designed to test and implement village-scale groundwater desalination in Omusati region and rainwater harvesting technologies in Oshana region. It further aims to identify the most appropriate technologies for water and sanitation in urban areas and for subsurface water storage in Uuvudhiya constituency in Omusati region.
