The Desert Research Foundation of Namibia (DRFN; as National Implementing Entity, NIE for Namibia) has received a grant from the Adaptation Fund to strengthen its capacity to implement the Fund’s ESP (Environmental and Social Policy) and gender policies. The aim is also to allow potential executing entities and partners as well as the National Designated Authority (NDA), Ministry of Environment and Tourism, to gain from this capacity building process for the purpose of improving the competitiveness of proposal development as well as project effectiveness.
With the endorsement from the NDA, the DRFN has secured the services of the International Arid Lands Consortium (IALC – http://ialcworld.org), an NGO with 25 years of conducting international research and development projects and with whom DRFN has an MOU. In May 2017, Barbara Hutchinson and Kristin Wisneski-Blum were in Namibia to train participants from the DRFN and its partners.
Dr. Martin Schneider, Director at DRFN shared his experiance after attending this training which was published by the Adaptation Fund on their website.
