The Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) is currently supporting a Research Portfolio comprising of 88 projects (worth € 23.8 million over five years since 2012) supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

With the first research portfolio coming to an end in April 2018 and the start of the second research and capacity development portfolio in 2018, SASSCAL will host a SASSCAL Regional Science Conference in April 2018.The overall aim of the conference is to highlight SASSCAL’s key achievements in research, capacity development and service provision and to introduce the SASSCAL 2.0 research agenda to the SASSCAL stakeholders.

Specific Objectives:
 to conclude SASSCAL 1.0 by presenting major scientific achievements to the diversity of SASSCAL stakeholders
 to introduce SASSCAL 2.0 to the research community and SASSCAL stakeholders
 to launch and present various SASSCAL products and services (SASSCAL Data Portal, SASSCAL Research Book)
 to allow for Science-Policy dialogues at selected topics
 to provide a platform for research integration and regional networking

It is against this background that SASSCAL is inviting stakeholders from science, policy, the public and private sector to attend this symposium.
