EU-ACP Water Facility: IWRM in Cuvelai-Etosha Basin (IWRM-CEB)
The Namibian Government through the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry (MAWF) -Department of Water and Forestry in cooperation with the DRFN, the GTZ and BGR established a project “Sustainable integrated water resource management (IWRM) in the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin (CEB) in northern Namibia”. Funding comes from the European Commission.
The overall objective of the project is “to achieve the sustainable utilization of water and other natural resources through the implementation of integrated water resources management (IWRM) in the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin”. IWRM-CEB was established to support the implementation of IWRM in the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin and to ensure adequate IWRM institutions like Basin Management Committees are created and fully functional, and stakeholders are participating in basin management activities.
DRFN has been contracted by GIZ on behalf of DWAF to support establishment of sub-basin management committees in the three outstanding sub-basins of the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin. Key activities are to undertake a stakeholder analysis and to mobilize stakeholders by organizing and facilitating workshops and meetings.
