Title: Land Desk Coordinator
Erik fulfils the position of Land Desk Coordinator/Programme Manager at the DRFN. Erik originates from the Netherlands where he completed an MA in Human Geography at the University of Utrecht, with specialisations in Rural Development Studies and Environmental Planning in Developing Countries.
Prior to coming to Namibia, Erik worked for the Environmental Youth Council in the Netherlands and was involved in inter-disciplinary research programs in Botswana and the Philippines, focusing on Land Use Planning and Environmental Management respectively. Erik joined the National Planning Commission Secretariat in Namibia from 2002 to 2006 to support the Namibian government with the coordination of the National Poverty Reduction Programme and the Participatory Poverty Assessments in all regions of the country.
Erik’s professional interests are: rural development, integrated planning processes, participatory action research, poverty reduction, sustainable land management and climate change adaptation. On a more personal note he likes a game of tennis, hiking and mountaineering and a good book.
